As a social enterprise, we often get asked to show our impact. It has always been difficult to pinpoint the actual number of makers, and to have enough income to actually do more than just order products.
Over 15 years of Ma Te Sai's existence we have co-reated many beautiful items, been the intermediary for wholesale accounts to ensure large orders can be managed, trained women to sew, provided some industrial sewing machines, taken a handful of artisans to different countries to showcase Lao traditions and skills and shared Lao culture, artisanal textiles, clothing, homewares and accessories with the world.
Now a report has been compiled, with the help of ASEAN SEDP4 project, which hopefully explains the complexity of our supply chain, the resillience of our wonderful maker entrepreneurs, which keeps us pushing on.
