Savan Ikats 2021

Straight From Heaven
The Savan range is from Savannakhet in Southern Laos. The PhuTai women are remarkable ikat weavers, their multitudinous patterns are predominantly in shades of indigos, greys and whites, and woven into cotton textiles we can make into comfortable homewares. Savan means "heaven" in Lao language, we definitely think these textiles are heavenly. Our creations are sewn in Sengsavang, a centre for women at risk of trafficking in violence. The income not only helps make the centre more sustainable, but also helps with the sewing training, as often we are making custom orders and working on new designs. The more we can increase work in this area the less women are likely to go across the border seeking employment.

Thanks to Anantara Spa @ Avani+, Luang Prabang for the photography location.
