Dok Hak (Calitropis Gigantea or crown flower) is known in Lao as the “love flower”. In marriage ceremonies, these flowers are threaded on bamboo and arranged in ceremonial trays, then placed in front of the future spouses. Spouses will also hold garlands of dok hak. The dok hak or love flower in your piece is 92.5 silver along with the links, hooks, beads and rings. These can be cleaned if discolour over time.
This collection, designed & assembled in Laos, takes the spirit of the love flower and combines it with the natural jobs tears seeds, from the Akha community of northern Laos, and in some pieces there is naturally-dyed cotton from our Taileu weavers.
If your piece includes seeds or cotton please do not wear it for long in water. The seeds are water resistant and will survive a shower, but swimming or long bathing with them is not recommended. The seeds can be taken to other countries, they are accepted in US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and are not a biological threat..
