From the Village, For the Village
Ma Té Sai means “where is it from?” in Lao language. We select and co-create beautiful gifts, textiles and homewares handmade by people from villages across Laos. Some of our artisans are from remote and rural Laos, making traditional handicraft; some are farmers growing local produce; and some are disadvantaged, working in city centres, where they are developing new skills and a better life.
All are proud and happy to share their skills and traditions with you. we want you to share this connection with our artisans as much as we want to ensure them a fair and sustainable income.
Featured Collection : Summer Sabai
Summer Sabai features light and fresh colors and designs from the Tai Leu women in Northern Luang Prabang Province. We worked with local women to expand our color palette and adjust some of our favorite supplementary weave patterns from our Classic Sabai Range.
A true village production, Ma Te Sai raised funds to send women of these villages to learn to sew in Vientiane and subsequently collaborate to create new designs and a range of functional homewares with traditional motifs.
Joining several other reputable hotels and organisations in Luang Prabang, we are now one of 30 drinking water refill stations in Luang Prabang. Tourists can stop by our shop and refill their own bottle for free. We also sell light weight aluminium bottles, if you don't have your own, that keep the water cool and are durable for the keen adventurer. So drop by our shop, purchase a bottle for 60,000kip, and refill, reducing your travel footprint.
